On-Call Construction Management Projects
Since 2015, the VSCE staff has provided construction management support on multiple projects from various BART departments including the BART Dublin Station Project to improve the accessibility for patrons with physical disabilities. Newly paved roadways, parking areas, ramps, and pathways were reconstructed to comply with the updated standards mandated under the Americans’ with Disability Act Codes and Guidelines. Signage was upgraded to improve wayfinding and pedestrian handrails were added to improve safety. Sections of roadways and walkways were regraded to improve drainage and ease of navigation by wheelchairs.
VSCE Resident Engineers managed and coordinated construction for San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) paving project at Dublin/Pleasanton BART Station. We provided oversight for construction inspection, materials testing, project documentation, and change order negotiations for completing upgrades to bus waiting area, station walkways, drop-off and parking areas to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act building codes and BART Facilities Standards.
VSCE Construction Inspectors acted as a field representative and staffed the resident engineering team; we inspected all construction activities and verified that construction activities are coordinated with the BART station operations to minimize disturbance to the BART operations and patrons. We coordinated with utilities, design team, and BART project manager to resolve and document field conditions. Prepared daily reports and coordinated with materials testing lab and other project stakeholders. The project included improvements to station access, parking, pedestrian path, and wayfinding signage. Our team inspected curb & gutter, sidewalks, ADA ramps, asphalt pavement, and bus shelters installation. VSCE has participated on numerous projects initiated by BART maintenance division as well.
