City of Modesto, CA | VSCE provided Program Management, Construction Management services for the new Bus Storage, Operations, and Maintenance Facility Project for the Modesto Area Express (MAX).
VSCE led the project during the project development and design phase that
concluded with complete design documents and successful advertisement of
the project for bid. This included procurement and selection of the project
architect and coordination with multiple City departments and the City
Council on funding and operations issues.
VSCE was also responsible for coordinating project compliance with FTA requirements. The new facility required a permanent closure of a local street and a public hearing with the neighbors and businesses.
At the completion of design, VSCE competed among a field of 21 CM firms and ranked #1 to provide full scope CM services. The new $12 million Bus Storage, Operations, and Maintenance Facility services and accommodates 70 transit vehicles, featuring a new bus parking area, new bus maintenance building, fuel station, bus wash, and off street employee parking. The project was completed with less than 1% contract change orders that were mostly owner initiated and no claims.
